About Our Guesthouse

Your ideal refuge

Our story begins in a time when Galle Fort was more than just a place; it was a living, breathing testament to the historical tapestry of Sri Lanka. In 1968, our family embarked on a journey to share the wonders of this unique destination with the world. Named after our beloved matriarch, Mrs. Wijenayake's Guest House was founded on a deep respect for history, culture, and a genuine desire to make visitors feel at home.

From the moment our doors opened, our family has been committed to preserving the authenticity of this colonial-era house. The ancient walls were meticulously restored, and the house was transformed into a cozy haven where modern comforts seamlessly coexist with the grandeur of a bygone era.

Over the years, our guesthouse has welcomed travelers from every corner of the globe. These guests have become a part of our extended family, sharing stories and creating memories within the timeless embrace of Galle Fort. As a family-run business, we've taken immense pride in fostering this sense of connection and belonging.

Galle Fort, with its cobblestone streets, Dutch-colonial architecture, and enchanting atmosphere, has remained a steadfast backdrop to our family's story. Our commitment to sustainability, supporting the local community, and preserving the heritage of Galle Fort has only grown stronger with time.

As we look ahead to the future, we remain dedicated to our role as caretakers of this historical treasure. Mrs. Wijenayake's Guest House invites you to be a part of our continuing journey, where the past comes alive, the present is filled with warmth and hospitality, and the future is bright with the promise of new friendships and unforgettable experiences. Welcome to our family-run oasis, where history and hospitality unite to create lasting memories.
